Oh, a nice ride today. Rode out KL Avenue and did the upper-Lawton ride (out though Almena skirting close to Paw Paw, and back near KVCC). A couple of new returnies were there, as well as another new rider, so it was a good group and a ride for getting to know people. The Tri-group wasn’t there, so we spent a little extra time at the coffee shop, and kept the group together, making for a nice, comfortable ride all around.

See you all next weekend!

The ride out southwest of town was a pleasent ride today. A group of 11 of us (our largest group of the year so far :) managed to keep things somewhat under control so as not to ruin the day for those that were competing in the triathalon tomorrow. The Tri-group broke off after 10 miles or so, and the rest of use cruised out to V Avenue & VanKal for a nice jaunt around the countryside. A nice easy day, and back home by 10:30am.

With all the weird weather gone for now, and the heat moving in, it’s time to get some real riding done. We’ve had a good start to the year – we’ve already done a century, the jockeying for position has started, alliances against the ride leader have begun to form, and I think it’s the earliest in the season that someone has caught David before the top of one of his favorite hills! The turnout is getting stronger as the weather-leary brave the outdoors and the snowbirds return from the winter training grounds south of here.

If you wish to join us, please just send us a note so we can get you on the mailing list, and show up to ride.

Great rides, great coffee, and great people – what more could you ask for?

Oh, you missed a good one today. Lively and quick, though a little warm for St. Nick.

The Gull Lake ride always brings out “Le Tour” in all of us – rolling hills keep the speed moving, some long swooping curves allow for some pursuits, and the hills that pop up out of nowhere keep the challengers on the fronts of their saddles, waiting to claim the top for themselves. Then we stop for a potty break :)

It was a beautiful day for a bike ride – clear skys, cool temps and a crowd of 8. We cut through downtown, out through Parchment, under Richland, looped around Gull Lake, cut down to Galesburg, and home on ML – a nice 45 miles in just over 3 hours. David kept us on course, others played around with taking their turn at the lead, and some were out to dethrone the King of the Hill.

Oh yeah – and the BBQ afterwards is something you shouldn’t have missed! Good food, some beer, lots of good company, DESSERTS – it was not to be missed, so if you did, sorry. You’ll just have to start hanging out with us to find out when we’re going to do it again!

I think Dan said the next one was at his house, but I didn’t catch the date, so we’ll have to get that on the schedule soon :)

Today’s ride was a nice one – David was off at a mock triathalon! As there was noone to demand we go faster and higher, we picked a rolling course down through Scotts and over by Climax, and came back home. Some hills, a nice steady pace, and we all got a good ride and some miles in. We could’ve used a few more dedicated riders – 5 showed for coffee, 4 rode, 1 turned back (some snivelling about “I have a triathalon tomorrow – can’t overdo it”), so the 3 dedicated riders stuck out the 37 miles and had a fun ride. Home by 10:30.

Like it or not, that snow is going to melt, and you’re going to get that urge to get out and ride.

Come join us when the roads dry up for a cup of coffee, some light-hearted banter, and a relaxing ride around the SW Michigan countryside. Our fearless leader David J. will gladly guide you through the scenic backroads at a comfortable pace while keeping the event light and social. Weekend rides generally average 16-17 MPH and around 35 miles, and you can generally be back home just in time for lunch.

And if you’re lucky to still be hanging on at the end of the 40+ mile sprint, there will be oxygen available for those who left their lungs back at the bottom of that steep climb around mile 3 :)

Hang on! Coffee’s gone, and we’re heading out!
